How to use XML Sitemap Generator

  1. Paste your URLs — one full URL per line, canonical versions only.
  2. Set changefreq and priority — weekly/0.8 is a sensible default for content pages.
  3. Copy the sitemap.xml output and upload it to your site root.
  4. Submit it once in Google Search Console → Sitemaps (and Bing Webmaster Tools), and reference it in robots.txt.

What is XML Sitemap Generator?

An XML sitemap generator turns a plain list of your site's URLs into a valid sitemap.xml — the machine-readable index that tells search engines every page you want crawled. Each URL becomes a <url> entry with optional hints: changefreq (how often it updates) and priority (its relative importance).

Sitemaps matter most where discovery is weakest: new sites with few backlinks, deep pages many clicks from the homepage, and large sites where crawlers won't stumble on everything. Google reads the file from your site root or robots.txt and uses it as a crawl to-do list — no guarantee of indexing, but a guarantee of awareness.

About the XML Sitemap Generator

Paste your URLs one per line, pick a change frequency and priority, and copy the generated sitemap.xml — correct XML declaration, namespace and structure included, ready to upload.

Deployment is three steps: save the output as sitemap.xml, upload it to your site root (yoursite.com/sitemap.xml), and tell the engines — add Sitemap: https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml to robots.txt and submit the URL once in Google Search Console (Sitemaps section) and Bing Webmaster Tools. From then on, crawlers re-fetch it on their own schedule.

Scope guidance: include every canonical, indexable page; exclude redirects, noindexed pages, and parameter duplicates — a sitemap full of junk URLs erodes crawler trust in it. CMSs with SEO plugins regenerate sitemaps automatically; this generator serves static sites, hand-built projects and quick supplementary sitemaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your site is new, large, or has pages weakly linked internally — yes, it measurably speeds discovery. A ten-page site with good navigation survives without one, but the file costs nothing and every serious site ships it.
Upload to the site root (yoursite.com/sitemap.xml), declare it in robots.txt with a Sitemap: line, and submit once in Search Console. Any one of those is enough for discovery; doing all three is standard.
Google has said it largely ignores both, relying on observed change patterns instead. They're harmless hints — set reasonable values and spend your energy on including the right URLs, which is what genuinely matters.
50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed per file. Bigger sites split into multiple sitemaps listed in a sitemap index file. Most sites never approach the limit.
Only pages you want indexed: canonical, 200-status, indexable URLs. Leave out redirects, noindexed pages, login/cart pages and parameter variants — engines treat a clean sitemap as a trustworthy signal of your important pages.
