How to use Area Converter
- Enter your area value in the “From” field — for example 120 for a 120 m² floor plan.
- Select the unit you have (Square meter, Acre, Hectare…) in the first dropdown.
- Select the unit you want in the second dropdown — the converted area appears instantly.
- Press the swap button to reverse the conversion, e.g. from ft² → m² back to m² → ft².
What is Area Converter?
An area converter translates surface measurements between units — square meters to square feet, acres to hectares, square kilometers to square miles. Area units grow with the square of length units, which is why the numbers feel unintuitive: a meter is about 3.28 feet, but a square meter is about 10.76 square feet.
Two units on this list exist only for land: the hectare (10,000 m², the metric standard for farmland and forests) and the acre (4,046.86 m², the traditional English land unit — about 40% of a hectare, or roughly a football field without the end zones). Real-estate listings, floor plans and land registries mix all of these constantly, which is exactly what this tool untangles.
About the Area Converter
This converter handles seven area units — square centimeter, square meter, square kilometer, hectare, acre, square foot and square mile — and converts between any pair instantly as you type.
Common real-world jobs: converting an apartment listed at 85 m² into square feet for comparison shopping (915 ft²), working out how many hectares a 25-acre plot is (10.12 ha), or translating a country or city area from square kilometers to square miles. Useful anchors: 1 m² ≈ 10.764 ft², 1 hectare = 2.471 acres, 1 km² = 100 hectares ≈ 0.386 mi².
