How to use CPM Calculator

  1. Enter any two values — total cost, impressions, or CPM.
  2. Read the third instantly — the calculator solves whichever field you left open.
  3. Sanity-check against benchmarks: display $1–5, social $5–15, LinkedIn/CTV $20–50.
  4. Model your plan: budget ÷ quoted CPM × 1,000 = the reach you're actually buying.

What is CPM Calculator?

A CPM calculator works the cost-per-thousand-impressions equation in any direction: CPM = (Total cost ÷ Impressions) × 1,000. Enter any two of the three values — campaign cost, impressions, CPM — and it solves the third instantly.

CPM ("cost per mille") is the pricing unit of awareness advertising: display ads, social feeds, video pre-rolls and podcast spots are all bought by the thousand views. A $500 campaign delivering 100,000 impressions ran at a $5 CPM; if you're quoted an $8 CPM and have a $2,000 budget, you're buying 250,000 impressions — both are one calculation here.

About the CPM Calculator

Fill any two fields — total cost, impressions, CPM — and the third computes live. It answers the three planning questions in one tool: what CPM did I actually pay, how many impressions will my budget buy, and what will this quoted CPM cost at my target reach.

Benchmark CPMs to sanity-check quotes (broad 2026 ranges, varying hugely by targeting and geography): programmatic display $1–5, Facebook/Instagram $8–15, TikTok $5–10, LinkedIn $25–50 (B2B targeting is expensive), YouTube $10–30, podcasts $15–30, connected TV $20–40. A "cheap" CPM buying the wrong audience is still wasted money — CPM measures cost efficiency, not outcome.

For performance campaigns judged on clicks, pair this with our CPC Calculator — and the bridge between them: CPC = CPM ÷ (CTR × 10), so a $10 CPM with a 1% CTR is effectively a $1 CPC.

Frequently Asked Questions

CPM = (Total cost ÷ Impressions) × 1,000. Rearranged: Cost = CPM × Impressions ÷ 1,000, and Impressions = Cost ÷ CPM × 1,000. All three directions are the same equation this calculator solves.
Channel-relative: $1–5 is normal for programmatic display, $8–15 for Meta feeds, $25+ is expected on LinkedIn. "Good" means at-or-below benchmark for your channel AND reaching the right audience — a cheap wrong audience is the worst buy.
CPM for awareness (you pay for eyeballs), CPC for traffic (pay per visitor), CPA for conversions (pay per result). The further down the funnel the pricing, the more risk shifts to the platform — and the higher the unit price.
Effective CPC = CPM ÷ (CTR% × 10). A $10 CPM with 1% CTR costs $1 per click; with 0.5% CTR, $2. That conversion lets you compare a CPM buy against a CPC quote on equal terms.
Viewable CPM — you pay only for impressions actually seen (industry standard: 50% of pixels for 1 second). vCPM runs higher than plain CPM but strips out the ads nobody scrolled to; comparing the two quotes needs the viewability rate.
