How to use Favicon Generator

  1. Upload a square logo — simplified for tiny display; 512px+ source is ideal.
  2. Generate the favicon set — ICO plus the PNG sizes.
  3. Deploy: favicon.ico at the root, PNGs with their link tags in <head>.
  4. Verify in a private window — favicon caches outlive everything.

What is Favicon Generator?

A favicon generator turns your logo into the icon set a website needs: the classic favicon.ico browsers request by default, plus the PNG sizes modern platforms use (16/32 for tabs, 180 for Apple touch icons, 192/512 for Android/PWA). One square image in; the deployment set out.

Favicons punch above their 16 pixels: they're your site's identity in tabs, bookmarks, history and search results (Google shows favicons in mobile SERPs — a real CTR factor), and their absence reads as unfinished.

About the Favicon Generator

Upload a square image — your logo or mark — and generate the favicon set.

Deployment, the short version: favicon.ico goes at the site root (requested automatically at /favicon.ico), and the head tags declare the rest — <link rel="icon"> for PNGs, <link rel="apple-touch-icon"> for iOS home screens, and a web manifest for Android/PWA icons. Most sites need exactly that recipe once, then never think about it again.

Design law at favicon scale: 16px forgives nothing — the marks that work are one bold shape, letter or symbol at high contrast; full logos with text become smudges. Test the generated 16px against a busy tab bar (light AND dark themes — transparency handles both). And expect caching: favicons are the most stubbornly cached asset on the web; verify changes in a private window. Uploads are processed and returned, not kept.

Frequently Asked Questions

Baseline: favicon.ico (16+32) at the root. Modern set: 32px PNG (tabs), 180px apple-touch-icon (iOS), 192/512px (Android/PWA manifest). The baseline alone covers browsers; the set covers everything.
<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico"> (optional — the root path is requested anyway), <link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="32x32" …>, <link rel="apple-touch-icon" …>, and a manifest for PWA icons. Generators' output usually includes the snippet.
Detail death at 16px — text and fine elements can't survive. Use the logo's simplest distinctive element: the mark without the wordmark, one letter, one shape. Redesigning-for-16px is normal, not failure.
Indirectly — Google displays favicons in mobile search results, where a recognizable icon lifts CTR, and a missing/broken one looks abandoned. It's branding in the SERP, not a ranking factor.
Favicon caching is notoriously persistent. Hard-refresh, private window, or request /favicon.ico directly to confirm the server side; visitors' caches roll over on their own schedule.
